    Post Paddles/looms : what are they worth for daily use?

    As a newbie I'm looking for a simple setup to start with. And because I'm frequently out of town during weekends, portability is a plus.

    I've been looking at these:
    VintageBladesLLC::Razor...
    Razor Strops, Hones, and Accessories

    Both have 0.5 chromium oxide on one side, so I have a tool for touch-ups right from the start.

    I'm also considering TM's apprentice strop, but I'm afraid I would damage it by shoving it into my suitcase. His vegan strop looks to be more suitable for this kind of abuse, but will the reverse take pastes?

    I may sound strange, but I'm just trying to have my cake and eat it too.

    If you travel a lot, one advantage of a paddle strop is that you don't have to find a place to hang it. Also the loom strop adds unnecessary weight.

    The vegan strop can not be pasted. It is great for travel though. it has a really firm draw and is well made.
