Thanked: 0How much $$$$ ????
Is $50 too much for a shave ready "new" Wapi. I have never bought one so I am not sure. Alot of you seem to recomend them so I may buy one as an entry level razor.
Thanks

I could be wrong, but I don't think so! Honing alone costs in the neighborhood of 20 dollars, and wapis, although you can get them cheap, are very good blades according to those who have tried them!

Unfortunately nobody can give you a Yes/No answer.
"Too much" is relative. Around $50 seems to be the going price these days for a honed wapi. Whether it is worthed to you is something that you can answer only once you learn how to shave with a straight razor.
Some people swear by them and some hate them, others are in between - only one way to find out where you fit.

Thanked: 416There are some nice vintage blades going for 50 or less in the bst already honed. Why are you wanting the wapi?

Thanked: 11Hi,
I've bought Wapi's off Wajtec on ebay (approx £10 / $20 & shipping), if you can hone yourself go this route. I guess $50 sounds reasonable though. Personally I love Wapi's, good value.......
Best wishes,
Mark........

Thanked: 131I have 3 wapis and love them. They take a good edge. I guess I would pay $50 for a shave ready one. But its like the man says- it depends what its worth to you.
I will say that if its your first razor, go for the best quality razor you can possibly afford. You cant go wrong with a Dovo, and bought from classic shaving it will be honed by Lynn.
Remember: 1st razor, get the best quality you can afford.

Thanked: 0Thanks for your replies everyone.
There is no particular reason for my wanting a Wapi other than the recomendations of some people here as it being a good starter razor. They seem to be readily available on ebay. The razor that I really like is ... VintageBladesLLC::Dovo...
Again, this is purley based on looks and the fact that I like carbon steel for taking an edge. Thinking about it though, A Wapi would be a good razor for practice sharpening...not expensive although now a days, $100 barely gets me a tank of gas !
