Thanked: 1First go at it
Well I will have to admit that the first try I was more than a little apprehesive about using a straight razor I have had in my dresser drawer for over ten years. I honed a little and stropped on an old belt and off I went and I have to say it was wonderful. I had around 1/2-3/4 inch beard all the way around and my straight razor mowed right through that without even one nick. I went much slower than I usally go with that Mach 3 or what ever and didn't take a second pass for a closer shave but it still was as good as I get from dispoables. I think I am hooked and now might shave more than once every other month
Not nearly as hard as I imagined but the angle one holds the blade and pitch of the blade certainly does make a big difference. Thanks guys for giving me the confidence to give it a try.

Good job!Welcome. I'm glad your first experience was a good one. Sounds like that blade had some loving care in the past.
