DOVO SOLINGEN is mine real or a knock-off ?
First off... Hi.... first time posting here.. site looks great with tons of newbie info and even more resources.
My first question is about my blade. I can't find one online anywhere with the markings mine has. I am posting a pic and asking the experts what you think. While I did buy it from a reputable cutlery dealer they soon after went out of bussiness....
Thanks !

Thanked: 2I've got the same one but with a blonde handle and 6/8 blade. Certainly looks like the "real deal" to me. I've also found it to be a great razor to get started with. Pretty simple to hone, takes a nice edge etc...
Quite a few people also say that the steal on that blade is as good as any of the more expensive Dovo's so as long as your not looking for anything fancy it'll serve you well.
Cheers,
Rossco

I don't see a reason why wouldn't it be real - looks just as what it should be.

Thanks...
I only asked as I read in the new member info this brand was copied or knocked off sometimes and when I went to look for it I could not find one with the same blade makings....
works great though and have had it for a couple of years.

Thanked: 1212That looks like a NOS (new old stock) Dovo to me. Perhaps rather recent NOS, but I believe Dovo stopped using those boxes some time ago. (They have metal boxes now) Maybe somebody more knowledgeable will chime in and know when Dovo stopped using those boxes.
Anyway, you have nothing to worry about. That's a fine razor. It will serve you well.
Best regards,
Bart.

I agree its a NOS. That's a good thing because with Dovo, the older the razor the better it is.

GREAT ...
thanks for all the replies and welcome !
I put the box in the pic at the last second figuring it might help. Its a hard palstic box and was sealed when she took it out to show me.

Not really that NOS. This is the same model I was buying and reselling with my kits just 9 months ago. Dovo had 2 similar looking and price point razors and dropped one this year.
It is the real deal AND a great starter for a beginner or old hand alike.

I bought the same one (with the same box) in May from a very reputable source. There was some confusion because I had ordered a "Special" and got a "Best Quality" instead, and the merchant checked with Dovo and found out they had discontinued the "Special", but was shipping them interchangeably since the blades were the same except for the etching. Mine has been great -- no worries!
