Good razor?
Hi
A question from a semi newbee. I bought a new Eicker Solingen razor(brand new) a few months ago.
As surly many before me,I got pretty disapointed when trying to shave with it.I knew nothing of honing then.4 months later with a Norton stone and Lynns video,I'm getting a close to perfect shave.
My question tough is this: Is this a good razor? It cost me like 250 dollars.but then again I live in an extremly expencive country.Does anyone have any experience with these razors?
thanks.

I have one of them, which I won in one of the raffles here and I like it very much. Get somebody to hone it and you'll be a happy camper.
There are some people who hone in europe, but even sending it to US shouldn't be too bad - everytime I've gotten stuff from Sweden it's taken about 3-4 days to arrive w/ the cheapest mail. I haven't mailed stuff there, but usually my international shipments arrive within 2 weeks via 1st class.

One of the German sellers was hawking them a year or so ago on Eboy. They are really good generic quality German razors. It should give you great service.

Solingen razors are almost always good razors. The exception is when they are Pakistani razors that have Solingen in the stamping on the tang.

Thanked: 1903When you say "brand new", do you mean you bought it as new, or it looks brand new? Reason for asking, I have one, too, but it is actually an NOS Wacker. Nice razor, though.
Same here. After having it professionally honed, it worked (in a way, I found out I like larger blades later).
I paid €90 for mine, which would sound about right given Norwegian taxes. Any road, it's German steel - any further questions?
