Question Does anyone know anything about a J.A. Henckels #41

    Hi,

I recently won this razor on ebay J.A.Henckels # 41 straight razor as new - eBay (item 290260646687 end time Sep-21-08 14:00:00 PDT)

Can anyone tell me if this is a decent razor, and how I might get started on tuning this thing up to get it ready for its first shave. Also, can anyone recommend a strop and a honing stone that would be good for this blade?

    Thanks

Henckels are usually good. To turn it into a shaving tool you want to have somebody who knows what they're doing hone it. Finding somebody local to you is usually not too easy, but you can always send it to one of the guys on this forum who offer honing. Check the Classifieds and the vendors' section.

That Henckels you won is a piece of junk ... you should have the seller send it to me and I will dispose of it for you. (I only say this cause you out bid me by $3 in the last minute!) Congrats. It should turn into a nice shaver for you.

There are several members scattered around the globe who can hone this up very nicely for you. For a strop, check the vendor section for quite a bit of variety.

    Cheers,

    Rick
