You're off to a great start. As you get more shaves under your belt you will find that your methods will evolve. You're preference in blade sizes may also. Keep us posted as to your progress and findings.

One more thing.
I can do everything I want with a round point and I will not buy a spike... ever. Never ever.
I can just see it diging in all the crevices on my neck. 
So, always a rounded point (it can be a rounded square).
