Thanked: 39Buying antiques
Hello everybody! (hello doctor Nic!)
I'm planning on getting another razor, something not expensive. So I saw this Rakknivar och andra tillbehör
He is selling:
1 E.A. Berg Eskilstuna (the white one) for 150 swedish kronor (aprox $21)
1 Biedermeier 150 kronor
1 Jernbolaget Eskilstuna 150 kronor
And also (the big black box in the middle) 1 Roxo Luimére SR with paddle strop and 2 different hones for 350 kronor ($49)
I haven't contacted the seller yet so I dont have any more details, but what do you think? I'm just getting one of them so I just want to know if you know which may be the best buy. The set with the SR, strop and hones is quite interesting but I dont know about Roxo Luimére so anyone got any suggestion on this and the other SRs?
Thank you!

I would ask the seller if the blades or scales have any chips or cracks. I would like to see better photos with the blades exposed before I would commit to any of them.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Sometimes buying items like this can be a crapp shoot (poor photos), not knowing exactly the condition of the item(s) you are buying. It can go both ways:
I would pass on the paddle and the hones, you really don't know what you're getting here, especially the hones. Not only that, you will want to get a hanging strop. Most guys do not use a paddle strop as their "primary" strop.
I will say that every Swedish razor I have ever had are great shavers, and $21.00 is low enough to take a chance on.
It;s up to you, though.
Good luck,
Steve

With the going price on beer in Sweden I would just drink 6 beers less the following Friday, then in some twisted theory you got the razors for free =)
Ask about chips and such though.

I've never used one, but good EA Bergs are said to be superior shavers. I'd also echo the statement that Swedish razors are quite nice in general. I let go of an Engstrom that was a fantastic shaver; I didn't care much for the tapered heal on the blade, but had it been a full healed blade she would have gone into my rotation.

Wait... there are people who don't like beer? To me, a pint of a nice, dark brew is like a little glass of Heaven.
