Default Getting a Double Arrow shave ready

    Hi all,

I'm almost ready for my first shave with a straight, but am unsure about what lengths i will need to go to go get my Double Arrow razors shave-ready.

The seller told me that all they need is some time on a pasted strop, but i am unsure as they do not seem particularly sharp. I have a hanging strop with .5 diamond paste on the back coming in the mail but am not expecting it to come till the end of the week. Considering this is my first str8 do you think the pasted strop will do the trick, or is it worth sending it away to be honed?

    Welcome to SRP.

It is near impossible to tell you what your razor needs to get sharp enough without examining it in person. That's why we recommend that people get their first razor honed by somebody who knows what they are doing.
If a seller tells me the razor just needs some stropping on a pasted strop, I'd ask them to please do it and ensure that the razor comes to me what we call shave-ready. Apart from the fact that a dull razor may ruin the whole experience before it even starts, it's much easier to have a well honed razor at least once in your life, so that you know what to aim for with your own honing.
Anyways, I'd suggest you contact Jimbo, who said he'd hone the razors of people in australia.
