    Default Blades vs. Electric

I have ordered a new blade, and while waiting for it, I decided I'd better get my face prepared a little. I dug out my old double edge and went to work. I had completely forgotten what a good blade shave felt like!!! I got a few nicks, but the blades, though never used and still in dispenser are probably a good ten years old, so I got a few nicks. Being in the business where sharp blades of all kinds are a necessity, I know what happens to a sharp blade when it just sits unused. They definitely get duller, and even though my double edge blades are chromium, platinum, touched by the hand of God wonder blades, they are still OLD, and I imagine they have developed some poor edges. I eagerly anticipate the arrival of my new blade and the pursuit of a truly wonderful shave.

I ordered the DOVO Ebony Silver Steel from Vintage Blades. I just received an e-mail confirming shipment.

Exactly my choice of razor when I started out. It's still among my favorite shavers, after the collection, eh, expanded a bit. It's a great razor at a very fair price, and it's reasonably easy to hone as well, should you choose to take the route of honing your own in the future.

I reckon, being well informed, you ordered a strop as well. May I suggest that, while awaiting the arrival of the razor, you make sure to understand the dangers of dulling a blade by stropping malpractice? IMHO, it's a frequent source of first shaves ending in total frustration.

    Congrats on a good purchase,
and a warm welcome to SRP,
    Bart.
