Oh you can hone warped blades on the shaptons or any other wide stone all you need is practice and more practice

It's a big investment, but your thinking's probably right! If you bought a cheaper alternative it'd only be a matter of time 'till you got the Shaptons too.
Then again, Lt.Arclight's probably right. You'll need more........., always more!
