Yeah, so it seems my "shave ready" razor wasn't shave ready to begin with

Even using the non-damaged part, there was a ton of tugging on the hair and not a lot of cutting.

Generally the longer between shaves the better feeling shave I get! Sharpness is your friend!

The ability to take off a weeks worth of scruff without triming it down first is one of the things I love most about straights. You can't do that with a cartridge or electric.
