Visit the classifieds young Jedi. Don't get hung up over such things as stainless steel, fancy scales, etc... Get yourself something like a 5/8 to 6/8 round point. Most are shave ready (it will say so in the ad). Then you will need your soap, strop and a brush. Strops can be found in the Vendor's Corner forum. Or if you would prefer, get a starter set from Kenrup (a member here). You will get a good razor and strop at a reasonable price. Lots of places sell nice badger brushes for $30 or less. Soap or cream is purely a personal choice.
When you have some experience, you will be in a much better position to start looking at a razor that more suits you needs and wants.

I would suggest that you do some reading - the sticky post in this section and
What Every Beginner Should Know - Straight Razor Place Wiki for starters.
There are many options and what to get is a matter of what your is your budget and what is important to you in a razor. Other than that if I were you I wouldn't worry too much about the steel. The razor is far more important than the steel it's made of.

Just to add a different viewpoint....I'm not so sure learning to staright razor shave is best on a long trip or vacation. The first month of this road is usually a tough one with nicks, dulled razors, etc..... Maybe it is best once in a fixed place with time to devote to it.

Welcome, Bouie
Classifieds, yes, but I'd caution you against a round point. Those ones like to nick me. With a spike point, I can see exactly where the edge ends. Seems to make all the difference.
