Thread: First full straight shave.

G'day. Just completed my first full straight shave. Lathered up with some Colonel Conk Bay Rum soap after a good hot shower and managed a wtg pass and a couple of xtg passes with a Harmonie razor that I honed myself, before giving it 30 strokes on a Dovo strop.I was extremely tentative and the blade seemed to tug a little,a bit like a Roll's Razor. Anyhow after 20 minutes the shave was completed. Not the closest shave by any standards,but blood free and giving me hope that I can get better results with a lot more practice.

Well done!! Great sense of accomplishment isn't it! I read entry that I have followed. Comfort first, then closeness. Speed and closeness will develop as you get more comfortable with manipulating the blade. I don't mean speed to be fast. I mean speed to be more efficency...
