    Default Stroping, again

Here is one more question... Is hog skin any good for stroping or is it too rough?

I have seen pig skin strops but never used one. I would say that as long as it has actually been made into a razor strop, that is should be smooth enough. That is, you can't just skin a pig and slap a razor on it, but if you are buying a pig skin strop from a strop manufacturer, it should be fine.

The only difference between a rough strop and a smooth one is the way the leather is finished...so you can make any strop as smooth or rough as you want.

My preference is to use 400 grit to get the amount of draw that seems to work best for me.

It depends on whether the skin is still ON the pig or not.

    Thanks...
Well, I'm pretty sure that the skin is not on the pig any more...

Ok, then it would be fine. Of course, with enough pigs you could . . . never mind.

If you can strop on the running pig then you can say you KNOW how to strop.
