Thanked: 0New guy aboard.
Howdy to all! I have posted a couple times already, but thought it time for an intro. I just started using a straight razor (a Dovo 5/8" classic black), and on my 4th shave I was able to get a better shave than my safety razor ever gave. I've also yet to draw as much blood as I have with my safety razor! I am a Captain with a major U.S. airline, so I have to limit my straight shaving to my days off. As Floor Pizza, a fellow airline pilot said, the TSA might have a problem with us taking a straight razor through security! I've started applying some of the techniques I've learned for straight shaving to shaving with a safety razor, and have brought that razor's effectiveness to a whole new level as well. I like the process as much as the great shave you get with a straight. I also like anything that is "old fashioned", as it seems the newer fangled methods of doing things are based on getting you hooked on a lifetime of supporting some company by having to buy their product till you die. I like buying a product that I could use my whole life, and then seriously hand down to my grandkids. It also seems the old ways of doing things just work better. I have the same philosophy for airplanes too. I'd still be flying my beloved 727 (no stinking computers anywhere in that aircraft!) were it not for them having been unceremoniously sent to the desert after 9/11.
I must thank this forum and all those who post here for saving me from getting really discouraged. I foolishly purchased some JUNK razors on ebay, and thankfully found this forum soon after. I've really learned alot already from y'all, and appreciate the great discussions and help found here!! The next thing for me to do is get started on my SHAVE DEN! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Shave on....
