Never really saw any benifit for me from it. But then again I think a well done 8K razor is really comfortable though going finer can make it easier to sneak up on the perfect edge.

There is another option from a fellow canadian who sell restored razor on eBay. He sells a honing system with abrasive paper. I can't say much about it but I know there is a thread here on the subject. You might take a look at it. It is fairly inexpensive to boot and the abrasive paper can be bought at Lee Valley. His username on eBay is "4wwrepair" (eBay My World - 4wwrepair).
