    Default alternate strop

    seeing as how i cant exactly afford a strop what would i be able to use as a strop? if anything i can

    A plain, flat leather belts will work. or you could try stropping on newspaper... fold it to a manageable size and then hold it on a flat surface and strop away... i have not tried this method... but from what others say it will take some extra strokes to get it done ... more than the normal 20-60 laps most of us do on a regular strop.

    I have used a number of improvised things to include pasted balsa wood, pasted denim stretched over a square piece of wood, and newspaper. However, you should really look into an apprentice strop from Tony at the The Well Shaved Gentleman, Heirloom Razor Strop Company, Straight Razor Shaving Supplier. In addition, kenrup has some strops that he sells at a very reasonable price.
