    I'd stay away from narrow razors if you're a newbie. It's much easier to learn to strop (a critical skill) with a razor of 5/8 (~16mm) width or more.

    Looks like a 4/8 Solingen, probably 30's or 40's vintage??? Some tarnish and would probably clean up OK and be a decent shaver.
