Best shave of my life!
Been using the straight for about 15 days now, that equates to about 12 or 13 shaves. The day my rasor came in I put the M3 in the missus' drawer of girly leg shaving junk, and left it there. I got a barber's hone the next day that dad had from grandpa's stuff and have been honing it and stropping with newspaper between shaves, the first honing session was the longest. (My grandpa was a straight shaver and thats how he did it.) It has worked wonderfully. Every shave has been very clean and easy, no pulling or tugging, no scraping of the skin. Mind you this was an ebay razor, well one of five vintage that I bought together for 30 bucks. It had the best edge, and I figured it would be good to start with. And with the barbers hone it has become a wonderful experience. I plan to get a norton 8/4 after paday along with a chinese 12 and a good leather strop. And soon I'll likely buy a razor that is considered shave ready by one of the "old pro's" here and see how my system stands up.
All of that being cannon fodder, the meat and potatoes of my post is to express my excitement that this evening's shave was the best shave that I have ever had. In the history of me shaving M3 or otherwise. My face is certifiably Baby Butt Smooth. No joke. And not a single nick to boot. I have read a lot and watched some vid's and I do believe that I am extremely happy with the ritual that I have embarqued upon.
So thanks to you "old pro's" for emparting the knowledge to all of us noobs, and for all the advice. I still consider myself a novice, and likely will for a long time. But man oh man am I happy with my shave. And the missus likes it as well.

Glad to see another Kentuckian on SRP.
Sounds like you are on the right track and doing very well. Only 15 days in the game, and you're getting BBS shaves...must be doing something right.

congratulations! btw if you have 5 razors you may want to just send one of them to a honemeister, instead of picking up a 6th one.... trust me I started with just one ebay razor as well

Welcome, paulallen
Ease up on the honing now that the razor is shaving well otherwise you'll over hone the edge. I figure you probably know that, but just to be sure.

Welcome to the forum!!!
Glad to have you aboard.
As has been already said, be careful about overhoning.
Enjoy the journey!

Keep up the good work. It's hard to explan to others how great a str8 shave can be. Glad you are able to experiance it. It only gets better from here. In a while you will be able to obtain these results w/o thinking about it.
