Thanked: 398Would a regular belt work for stropping?
I'm still waiting for my strop to come in the mail..
I have a leather belt that I think I could use but it's kinda shiny. I don't know if there's a coating on it or something..
would that still be okay for stropping?

You may be able to potentially use the back of your belt. The finished front side may not work well. Got any pics?

Ideally as long as the belt isn't too narrow and the surface is nice and smooth it should be ok. You might try the reverse side of the leather with minimal or no finish.

Thanked: 398Unfortunately, the belt is a two sided belt (one side black the other brown) so both sides are the same.
Don't have any pictures either.

Hell, I used a leather belt for a strop for about 4 months before I sprung for a TM.
Worked great, and you can carry it with you without taking up any space!

You could just use newspaper. It's great for stropping if you lay it on a flat surface.
