Thanked: 0newb in need of good strop
Im new to straight razor shaving etc. i ordered a Dovo ebony stainless 5/8 straigh razor with the pre-honed option.
I need to buy a decent strop, any reccomendations apreciated.
I'v done alot of reading on hones, but am kinda stumped at to which strop to go with.

I'm new myself. I have a Col. Conk Prima Rindleder strop with linen on the back side. It looks just like the Dovo strop and I suspect that Dovo makes them for Col. Conk. It's about $40, not too expensive if I slice it up. It works well. I know because one day last week, I had a disappointing shave. My new shave ready Dovo was pulling like it was beginng to dull. After my shave, I realized that I had forgotten to strop it before use.
Next day I stropped the Dovo and it shaved as well as ever.
Welcome and enjoy.

You absolutely cannot go wrong with a strop made by Tony Miller. He's a contributing member of this forum and has an online store with a wide range of options.

And welcome to SRP! I'm pretty new to the whole game myself but I can tell you that if it's straight razor advice and chat you're looking for, you're in the right place. There's a practically endless wealth of knowledge here, and the members are happy to share it with those in need.Last edited by stolenmirth; 12-18-2008 at 12:28 AM.
