Thanked: 3A warning on corking!!!
To anyone who uses a shavette and is thinking of trying to cork their blades, be carefull!! I enjoy using my shavette and I get amazing shaves with them, I did not like the feathers due to how rough the blades can be ( I preferr derby or dorko), so I decided to cork one of them and then go for it. There is a huge difference or at least I thought so, I made my normal passes and then on the second pass I did right and left......when I looked at the other side of my face I had about 4 pretty good streamers going on, good thing the wife did not see. It has been a while since I actually got myself besides somthing really really small but this definatly got my attention. So this is just my warning to any who would like to try it. It made a difference for me just gotta be careful.

It's when you take a DE blade and run it lightly along the top edge of the cork - the theory is that it is much like stropping in that it micro aligns the edge - the theory is that the DE blade is mechanically ground, and never "stropped" so running it once or twice along the top edge of the cork will, in effect, strop the blade and make it less harsh.
Hope that helps,
Mark

If you haven't seen this, it's worth waiting through the one commercial:

You'd actually be surprised. My shavette is part of my rotation since DE blade brands are all different. If I'm feeling a certain DE blade instead of my regular straights, I go for it. The shave is the same either way.
Just switch brands instead of corking. I didn't like the feathers either. True, they're sharp as a woman's tongue, but that can be painful Pick up a sampler pack of DE blades and I'm sure you'll find a brand that feels right on the first shave
