Talking Ok, I got a foot in to straight razor shaving

Hello forum, Ok i just purshased a GEO WOSTENHOLM & SON SHEFFIELD ENG I.XL "The Celebrated" Extra hollow ground razor I.XL It was very dirty and I just cleaned it up a little. My wife looked at me and said, "you are going to use that to shave your face?" I looked at her and cheered with excitement, "yes!" I already use straight razor shaving and, "love it" I'm excieted and very happy with my buy. I have read that this a great starters shaver blade. I purchased this for 9.99 and 4 dollars to ship it. Its not razor ready of course and it does feel sharp, but it does not cut a single hair of my arm. i also noticed that it has a very slight curve on the blade. is this how its made. and also can anybody give a date on this wonderful I hope buy? here is a pic of by the way I almost forgot to mention, it did come with the original box and pretty good condition.

From what I can see it looks great, a razor with a slight smile is a good thing in my book! Get it honed and use it!

That blade looks like a winner to me. Get it honed by one of the honemeisters here, get a strop, some shaving soap, and a brush,
then you will be ready to roll.

I don't see a smile. It looks like it's been unevenly honed in the middle, resulting in greater hone wear on the middle of the spine and a slight frown in the middle of the edge. Still, I don't think it's bad enough to worry about. Subsequent honing should be able to correct it over time.

At first I thought it was just the shadow behind the spine that made it look slightly curvrd, then I zoomed the picture and took the straight edge of a piece of paper and tried to line it up along the spine and I could see shadow along the center of the spine, therefore I am saying it has a slight smile along the spine. Another thing, If this is supposed to be a smiling edge(however slight) and the last person to "sharpen" it did not take this into account would explain why the edge now has a frown. Of course I am not wearing my cheaters (glasses) atm and could be seeing nothing at all! Try it yourself and see what you can determine, I may be wrong!BTW, the poster said it had a slight curve to it!
