what could be wrong?!
i recieved a DOVO immitation mother of pearlnot to long ago. it was a gift from my girlfriend but she doesnt know if they honed it before they bought it. i think she got it from excaliber cutlery and it says it comes shave ready. i shaved with it and my experience wasnt the best. i felt a lot of pulling and tugging. what could be wrong?

Did they hone it or is it the factory edge?

Assuming you have the whole stropping and lathering thing down pat, I would send it to someone here on the forums and have it honed to shave ready, just to be sure.

I bet its a factory edge or your stropping.

By this you mean that you have other razors and have not had the same problem, correct? Just to make sure. I recently bought two identical razors that were shave ready. One shaves well and the other does not, presumably the honing on one was better than the other. Now that we cleared the stropping, unless there is a defect on the edge, I would agree that it has to be the honing.
Al raz.
