    Default Grandfather passed away

    Hello friends,

I have someone selling me 2 razors that her Grandfather passed away. I dont know anything about the razors as cant tell what one reads and she doesnt know anything about it. I would like to use one of them and one to play with. I offered the lady 7 dollars including shipping. Do you think that this is worth that or more. I'm not a collector, I would like to just have. Here is the pics

For $7, why not, the first is toast, but the other one is quite nice, good grab!

+1 What he said. Send the bottom one out to get honed and save the other one for practice if you ever start honing your own.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I have at least two Oxford razors. They are nothing special but they are perfectly serviceable razors. As already suggested, use the first one to learn/play with and use the Oxford to shave with.

It looks as though the first one only has a chip out of the toe. You might be able to have that repaired by someone who knows how to not screw it up any worse. Great score, though.

the top one looks to be a shumate (style and the st louis stamp) with patience and care you could resurrect it if you want.

Like Utopian said, the Oxford razor will shave you even though it is not one of the "big brands"
    Be just and fear not.

Being new I do not know much on this subject but what may be helpful to K33 is can anyone identify the two blades he has. What type of straight are they? Some straights have a rounded head, these do not, what is that called? What are the sheaths made out of?
