    Default Checking in

    Greetings from Boston,

I am a fresh convert to straights and after a few weeks of looking around, I've finally decided to join this inspiring place. I've been shaving with a straight razor for a couple of weeks now and I am totally hooked: I have not lost any of my facial features, yet; there is no more skin irritation or ingrown hair; and I love new challenges - now I have a "dangerous one" every single day!

Although I had originally planned to get a single razor only (I started with a new Dovo "Best Value" razor); I quickly cought the Razor Acquisition Syndrome and got me a few more toys (two Wostenholms, a Frederick Reynolds humpback, a Joh Engstrom frameback and a no-name lightweight "Jessops"; and at some point I'd like to get a blade from some American craftsman). I blame you! I sent my first two razors for honing to Howard from theperfectedge.com. He is a great guy to deal with and did a great job with my Dovo and FR. I am using them as benchmarks for my own honing attempts.

I would like to thank you all for sharing your knowledge and experience here. I've learnt so much in so short time, you help me figure out what works best for me (but I do not think I'll ever do the fool's pass :P ). Keep up the great job!

Welcome to the asylum ! I've got the RAD too and the HAD which is as bad if not worse.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    Welcome to SRP!

I started with one razor and thought that was all that I'd ever buy...yeah right, I have over 20 now and just bought another on ebay.

Staying away from that Fool's Pass is a good idea. Who would try such a thing?

I'll never do the fool's pass. I'm afraid it would chop off my moustache!

Seriously...I too blame (thank?) everyone here for my developing disorder. Been picking up soaps and shaving cream wherever I find em, just ordered one of Stephen's brushes thanks to the review on the front page, and am now trying to hold back from buying the hones and multiple new razors.

So much for straights saving me money.

My friend thinks I'm weird with my 5 razors now. Yeah, it's a totally incurable disease. Once yu think you have found the right one, the little guy in your head says, "But..." Then off you go again!
