    Default First Shave

I completed my first straight razor shave this morning. With a little help from Lynn's video and lurking on this sight it went well. Only a few nicks. Feels great.
I couldn't have done it without the generous contributions from members of this group. Thank you.
I'm sure I'll be back looking for advise, and to comment on my adventures.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I went at it again this morning. Butchered myself more than the first time!
I hope I can learn this before I begin to resemble Frankenstein.
But, at least I'm learning what not to do.

Welcome to SRP. Take your time and go slow. Start with just your side burns and cheeks until you get used to the blade. Finish your shave with what ever you have been using up to now. Stretch you skin where you can and prep your face properly, a shower is best else wash your face and rinse w/ hot water several times. I shave in the evening when I have more time to focus and enjoy the shave. Be sure to strop you blade lightly before each shave 20 - 40 round trip strokes. No rush on the stropping. Go slow and use very light pressure. Hold the strop firm but don't try to pull it out of the wall or what ever you have it attached to.
