Keep at it! The Renaissance is a beauty once you get it honed up and stropped correctly!

You will be *very* surprised to find that your definition of "sharp" will change dramatically when you see how sharp a professionaly sharpened blade is. I thiink alot of new guys quit straight razor shaving when they get several uncomfortable shaves from a razor they sharpened themselves. If your straight shaving is not every bit as comfortable as the shave you get from a DE, Mach 3, or Fusion, you are doing something wrong. Chances are very good that your blade isn't sharp enough.
good idea, I'm actually looking for a second since a couple of days, but can't find anything yet and my wallet does not permit to get something for another 100$ this month.

The woman already declared me as officially insane...

well I now did the pyramid and afterwords stropped it for 40-50 round on linen and leather. Let's say it's not perfect yet but I got barley any hair on the arms left (quick tests) and the shave was not to bad. (just a quick test with no lather, defiantly beats a mach 3 and no skin irritations sofar )

I guess with some honing practice it will get perfect. I did put tape on the spine, just to make sure I don't destroy the patterns of the razor.

This may be a good time to visit the classifieds. If you feel confident with your honing, I think there was a Dovo Special (not shave ready) for $65.

    Al raz.

LOL, yup! Some of us (none of which will admit to it) hardly have any hair left on their legs from honing/testing, too.
