Thanked: 1Facial scrub+Cutthroat = Cut Throat...
I saw this product from "the real shaving company" ... it was a very abrasive facial scrub which they recommend as step 1 before shaving. So of course i bought it, scrubbed my face and then applied the shaving soap with my brush and shaved as normal. My face looked like it was mauled by a bear afterwards....
Anyone else find this a problem? P.S i'm now giving away free facial scrub if anyone wants it!!!!

Thanked: 13245Yeah I made that mistake with an aggressive face scrub the wife had...
I just use Noxema if I am going to shave before a shower, seems to work pretty good, and I can't beat the price....

I sometimes use a face scrub, but never before shaving. I think it is best, if you shave in the morning, to use the face scrub before going to bed the night before.
What I would suggest is to use the face scrub, to wash carefully your face and use a moisturiser (sometimes face scrub can dry the skin) before going to bed; let the skin sleeps all night and shave only in the morning, following your usual setup (like pre-shave, cream and aftershave).
Maybe this will work. Let me know.

Thanked: 278I tried using a facial scrub before shaving once, and it felt very rough.
Facial scrubs exfoliate. Straight razors exfoliate. By using a facial scrub you are using up one of the shaving passes you can do before getting irritation, that's how I see it.
I just wash with a mild cleaner once or twice before shaving now.

I use mine only in the areas that I don't shave.

I'v never had that problem. I use Men's Razor Defense Face Scrub by Neutrogena. I use it every day. It's not harsh at all. Some of the scrubs out there have pretty harsh exfoliate's in them. I get mine at Target.
Good luck.

Hi,
I always scrub before i shave. It is important not to be too aggresive about it, because, as has been mentioned above, it does exfoliate. Sometimes there's just not enough skin left for the razor!
If you need me too check it out for you, i'm willing to test it!

I always heard not to use scrub b4 shaving. I always get the best shaves when I do use it prior. Go figure. MikeB

One thing you might notice about "The Real Shaving Company" is that they don't address the issues of straight shaving at all. If you go to their homepage, all the pictures they shaow are of guys using multi-bladed monstrosities.
