Here is another way to approach the matter, others have told me on double edge forums compare the number of straights that you have to the number of shoes that she has or the number of coats that she has. My wife has approximatly thirty coats in all and probably fifty shoes, some of them I have never seen her wear ever and I do not see her ever wearing any of them. How often does she wear those coats and shoes? I can guarantee that each of my razors - straight and double edge see action ever week. If she wore a different shoe every day it would take her a month to go through all of her shoes. These are some of the tactics that I have used.
Throwing their collections back in their face is not a good idea. At least it was not for me. Women use a different kind of logic than we do. I won't say a better logic or worse logic, that would be setting myself up for another comeuppance. They just think different. I broke my wife in about my collecting tendencies back in the 1980s when I got into mountain biking. 5 new bikes in 4 years tended to desensitize her to the shock of owning something just to own it. If I get into this straight razor thing in a big way, she'll just be happy it won't cost as much as the bike thing nor take up as much room in the garage.

One thing I learned is, the words, "I have to have this in order to......." Only works once or twice. Then it is a good idea to just be honest and say, "I want this because I want this."
