Throwing their collections back in their face is not a good idea. At least it was not for me. Women use a different kind of logic than we do. I won't say a better logic or worse logic, that would be setting myself up for another comeuppance. They just think different. I broke my wife in about my collecting tendencies back in the 1980s when I got into mountain biking. 5 new bikes in 4 years tended to desensitize her to the shock of owning something just to own it. If I get into this straight razor thing in a big way, she'll just be happy it won't cost as much as the bike thing nor take up as much room in the garage.
One thing I learned is, the words, "I have to have this in order to......." Only works once or twice. Then it is a good idea to just be honest and say, "I want this because I want this."

True, my Mrs tends to be a minimalist when it comes to most things in her life. So I will probably use the fact that I intend to replace eight double edges with one straight, which is true. I will use the argument that eventually the straights will go to our four year old who will not have to buy anything at all ever. Straights are not like disposables they do not wearout you do not dispose of them they do not need to be replaced and a minimum of maintenance.
