    Default Worst time!!!

Today was my second shave with a straight and i got feeling confident and shaved my whole face most of it 2 passes some of it 3 and i was really proud of how it turned out (a little rough on the chin still not bbs but good). It was good enough that i did no touch up with my old razor. But i have discovered the worst time ever for someone new, its the time between shaves (i am so excited about my next shave it is not even funny). I can't wait until i can shave again, its nice to look forward to a shave instead of dreading it. I have only done two shaves with my straight now and i think i am hooked!!!! Already shopping for another razor and another strop. As far as hones is the norton 4000/8000 a good place to start when learning how to hone.

Whatever you do, don't succumb to practicing on other parts of your body. People tend to wonder when they see bald wrists and clear patches on your legs Welcome to the club

great to hear you are enjoying your shaves the chin does take a while to get down. if you are just looking to maintain your razor a barber hone will do great but if you plan on doing some restore work or blade repair i have heard good things abou the norton i have not started honing yet im sure someone will be along to help with your hone questions

We feel your pain. It helps to pass the time between shaves if you keep busy. Remember, there is plenty of razor porn and videos here on SRP.

    Congrats!

I know exactly what you are talking about, two weeks ago I shaved as normal in the morning and then I went to get my mail. Guess what: five minutes after my shave I had my first spike point razor in my hands.

The Norton 4/8 is considered one of the best hones to learn on and is well liked and used by new guys and experienced guys alike. There are many posts in the archives and many members are familiar with the characteristics so it is a fine choice for starters. You might consider a DMT D8C continuous diamond plate for lapping the hone as well.

Good prices on the Norton 4/8 and the D8C here. Free shipping if you spend a hundred bucks I think it is.

Hee sbrouwers, when I was reading the title I was going to get my virtual band aids to patch all the wounds but I'm glad you are just having a bad time between the shaves
