    Default Long Time Lurker

I have been reading the posts on this site for a while now, and today after shaving with an E. Weck & Sons, N.Y. U.S.A. Sextoblade (Christmas present, my face is still on fire) I decided I would post. Thanks for all the great advice and tips. Although they didn’t help with today’s shave, they have gotten me into Straights. I am not a full time straight shaver I have 6 DEs that are in my rotation, 3 straights (a new Dovo, an Old Genco, and a Timor) and the shavette but I don’t know if I will use that after today.

If any one has any advice or tips for using the E. Weck & Sons, N.Y. U.S.A. Sextoblade please let me know. I have Fromm #105 blades in it now, any other blade suggestions?
    Thanks

Welcome to SRP. I have a couple of those Weck Sextoblade razors. Being a pro tattooer I still use them occasionally to shave areas on a customer if they have a lot of hair on their body. I tried shaving my face with them using various blades and never found a blade that equals a true shave ready straight. As you probably know from reading posts on the forum preperation and technique, especially stretching the skin plays a big part in getting a smooth and close shave.

If you've been shaving with DEs for awhile you may have some of that learned already. I would suggest sending a couple of your straights out to a honemiester and start fresh with a good shave ready straight. You can find some listed here.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I concurr the best thing to do is to hier a hone expert until you get to a point where you feel that you can do it yourself adequeatly. As for me I am still trying to get the hang of the shaving so I am not ready for the honning part just yet.
