Thanked: 12first straight shave and the nicks are my own fault
Well everything came in today and like a kid with a new toy I couldn't resist but try it out. I watched the video and decided to give it a try. I have to admit I was nervous especially when it came to the left handed on the neck part. But I showered lathered up and went for it. The WTG went really good shaved the sides and then the neck (note I gave a goatee that I don't plan to shave). No problems no nicks this boasted my confidence to a whole new level and so foolish (not to mention stubborn) me decided to go XTG. After 3 nicks on the right side of the face I did something smart and decided to try that again after a little more pratice.
I'll keep you posted

Sounds like a pretty good first shave! Don't stress the XTG and ATG, it will come with practice.
Remember blade angle, almost no pressure and stretching your skin and you will soon be doing both XTG and ATG!=)

+1 on the sticking to WTG for a bit. you can get a pretty good shave with just WTG if everything is right (angle, pressure, skins taught). i don't always do ATG as i haven't exactly perfected it and i find i get nice shaves with WTG and a couple XTGs. i am sure i will eventually get around to perfecting ATG but i have learned the hard way the patience is always better.
it sounds like the shave went really good for the first time thought so be proud. nicks happen, i just nicked myself twice the other day and they were both my fault (obviously, who else can i blame right ).
good job and good luck!
