    An Alum block should be right up with the straight razor as required equipment for a straight shave. Yeah, it stings a bit at first, but for toughening up your face, preventing/curing razor burn, bumps, acne, AIDS and cancer, it can't be beat.

    It's educational too: sometimes you think you did a perfect job in a certain area, but when you run the alum over it you get some stinging. Lets you know where you need to be more careful.

    I now venture into my first attempt at stropping. I'm about to watch the videos from the wiki, and then strop, lather, and shave. Then I need to work on some homework
