Thanked: 278You got a much closer shave than my first try with a straight (or my second or 3rd and quite a few more tbh)
I find that the lighter the touch, the less razor burn you get. I imagine a light brushing effect rather than scraping. And 50 laps of stropping before shaving helped me in so many ways.
I also had the problem of having to do my own honing. Did you buy yours shave-ready?

An Alum block should be right up with the straight razor as required equipment for a straight shave. Yeah, it stings a bit at first, but for toughening up your face, preventing/curing razor burn, bumps, acne, AIDS and cancer, it can't be beat.

Thanked: 1Hey, my strop came from Jimbo! Thanks, jimbo!
I now venture into my first attempt at stropping. I'm about to watch the videos from the wiki, and then strop, lather, and shave. Then I need to work on some homework
