    Default Anyone like Bengall razors?

    Hi everyone.
I have recently purchased two Bengall razors and also a Taylor's Eye Witness razor from ebay. I know a lot of people warn against buying from ebay, but they were cheap. So if they turn out to be useless, I haven't lost much. I currently use a Dovo, but one just isn't enough (maybe I'm coming down with RAD)
I was wonder if anyone else here used a Bengall or a Taylor's Eye Witness and if they were any good.
All three of these razors have some staining, or tarnishing (I'm hoping its not rust). I'll post some photos as soon as I can. Is it easy enought to clean up with fine abrasive cutting paper and metel polish, or would you recomend sending them to someone on this site who knows a lot more than me?
Thanks for any advice anyone can give me.

Both of the brands you purchased are very nice razors for shaving. Clean them up, hone them and use them. You should not be disappointed.

I've tried neither, but they have great reputations. I've wanted a Bengall for a while, but not enough obviously, as they always go for more than my maximum bid!

I grabbed a Bengall earlier this year. It is now one of my smoothest shaving razors. Hone it up well and you'll be all set.

One of my dad's razors is a Bengall Blued Steel razor. I've just finished taking the old blue off, polishing it out, and I"m about to have it reblued before repinning it.

I've always heard that they are great shavers and I'm looking forward to honing it up and giving it a try.

One of the best razors I ever restored was a Bengall. Amazing shaver, smooth and extremely sharp. I'm glad it's an SRP member that bought it and owns it now.
    Enjoy your nice razors.

At this moment I have exactly one Sheffield razor in my personal collection it has been one of my top shavers for over two years now, while others have come and gone, That Bengall just keeps on shaving, the steel just honestly feels silky when I shave with it....

So, for $0.99 it was probably a good buy.

Last year I inherited 2 Bengall 6/8 razors from my father (who is still alive, but too old for handling straights.) He bought them when he first started college in 1945, cost £2 each. He shaved for most of his life with just these 2 razors. I have partially restored and honed up one of them, and it takes an extremely sharp edge. It's soft carbon steel and it gives a very close shave. So what they say about a razor shaving more than one generation is borne out yet again!!!

    Highly recommended. Sheffield steel.
