Recommendations for first brush and soap
I have been looking on ebay for some badger hair brushes and was wondering if anyone can help me with my first purchase of a brush. Here is a link to the ebay page that has some badger hair brushes that I have been considering. shaving brushes badger hair, Health Beauty, Collectibles items on eBay.com
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Also If anyone has a suggestion for a good smelling and lathering soap to use for shaving and a link of where I can find it.

I'll take a stab at the soap since it's easier
I would recommend colleen's soaps which you can find at Shaving, Bath and Body, Skincare, Home Fragrance, Brushes, Creams, Soaps but I also have some other soaps that I like. There is a subsection on soaps and brushes on the forum you may want to visit.
Badger brushes range from $10 to about $500, so it really depends on your budget. All of my three brushes are expensive and it is not necessary to spend so much money, so I don't think I should be giving you advise on that

Thanks!
Do you think that one of the silver badger hair brushes for 14-15$ would be ok for a first brush. I have nothing to compare it with so any help is great.

I'd say a $15 silver-tip is probably not going to be a quality brush. Most any badger brush that looks like it's packed tightly is going to serve you well as a first brush, but for a real quality silver-tip, you're going to pay more for it than that. Keep in mind that even the reputable brands all use different terms for their different qualities of hair as there's no standardized rating system.
I wouldn't go boar or synthetic.

Thanked: 95Here's a thread about the $30 Virtual Village brushes.
As for the soap, it's easy, get a sampler pack from Collen(TGQ)

I don't care much for the labels on brush hair, unless the labeling is done by one of the top manufacturers. In fact I had a 'pure badger' designated brush that was more 'silvertipped' and performed superior to any sub $100 brush I've tried.
My advise would be to pick a brush not by how it's advertised, but by how it's reviewed by the people who have tried it. And we have plenty of people who have tried the easy to get brushes out there.

+1 on Colleen's soaps. The best! As to a brush, it really depends on your budget. As already mentioned you can spend less than $10, or an obscene amount of money. Generally, the silvertip is regarded as the best. But pure padger will work just fine too. As you can guess, silvertips are more expensive.
