Default question about facial hair length

hey i want to grow my beard out for a little while and im still really new to shaving (7 shaves in) how long can i let my beard get before its not realistic to shave if off with a straight? i can always knock it down with my electric and then shave the stubble with my SR i guess...

I'm new, too, but I would think length wouldn't matter to a straight. Your electric would have a harder time than a straight

Most electrics have a long hair trimmer at the back, I would use that first. You can shave several days of growth with a straight.

ya my electric does have a long hair trimmer. my facial hair grows pretty fast. i can have a full beard in 55 days. lol i know that cuz i just did it for a bet in the summer. by full beared in my eyes hair has to be over an inch long, and mine was well over that mark

I have seen videos of people with a full bierd, shave it right of with a straight.Honestly, with a sharp enough edge, good prep and tecn.I think santa could get a bbs in no time.

I'd guess over 2 weeks worth of a beard might make it difficult for the lather to reach the skin easily, but then again, I too have seen videos of people with more than that (I guess) shave it right off. I'd say trim it down to 5 mm before shaving to be sure to get a good lather and beard softening. Other than that, the length itself is only a problem for DEs or plastic (system) razors, not for straights.

i would say as long as you can get the brush and soap to your skin, you should be fine
