Thanked: 488The only thing I could find was the name of the parent company which has a long history of making razors, knives scissors etc in Germany. They are Bontgen & Sabin as listed on the box. They have been in business at least since the mid 1800's.

Well, it's made in Solingen, so quality should be on-par with Dovo's for example...

Thanked: 488From what info I could find from the parent company I listed they started with knives around 1860. They expanded to making scissors and such and even made one of the first Bali Song type knives in the 1800's. From about 1870 something until at least WWII time frame they made straight razors and later safety razors which were closely patterned after the Gillettes.
I think it will be a good one and as soon as I get it and try it out I'll post the results good or bad. I'm hoping for good:-) As good as the box looks and the razor I would say he's right about it being an NOS. That in itself is pretty rare for one that's from 1930!

I've got a little 4/8. It's in the workshop gallery at the moment.

If your interested. I have no info to add I'm afraid.
That looks like a pristine example! They give a great shave & very smooth. Enjoy it!
