good sanatizing agents
just wondering what should i do about cleaning my straight razor. and what i should never use to clean it

well anything corrosive would be a bad idea, esp. prolonged contact with it.
i thought there's something in the wiki.
actually what kind of cleaning are you talking? pre-restoration, or just cleaning up the lather? If the second, rinsing with water always worked well for me.

You could just use a bit of rubbing alcohol on the razor after you use it (if that's why you want to clean it). Alcohol also has the benefit of drying the razor off, as it evaporates very quickly off of the metal.

This subject has come up several times before. I think that most people use antibacterial soap, alcohol, boiling water (only on the blade), Barbicide and other chemicals for cleaning razors. I personally use an Iodine based compound.

I just use hot water and a dry clean hand towel.

Hot water after use; alcohol then Barbicide for restorations/ebays.
