    Default I am getting addicted

Hi to all again. I think that joining the forum was one of the wisest moves I 've done lately. I followed the advices of the people here about how to sharpen my razor (stropping did the job magnificently) and yesterday I had a shaving I would never imagine I could have. Although my facial hair are hard as wire (esp. at the chin) my face is even today absolutely smooth. And the best of all, no razor burns!!! I only regret that I cannot save everyday (the shaving is so clean that it becomes unnecessary), so that I can use my other razors as well.

But I have also a question: I bought two Gotta razors the other day from ebay for 62 GBP. Do you think that this was a good buy? The razors seemed in a really good condition and they came with their wooden case. I do not know about the condition of the blades (how sharp), but they were spotless and with no pittings or tarnish.

Also, I live in Oxford, UK. Does any of you know a place where I could look for razors? Both new and vintage. Any stores or flea markets here or in London?

Thanks again guys for the advices.

I've never tried Gotta razors, but I've seen them. Looking at them from a computer screen they seem like they should be good. 65 pounds turns into about $100ish, so it doesn't sound like you got a deal, but I don't think you got ripped off.

Finally, I'm not from London. Sorry

    Mark

Congratulations on your good shave and your good razor find. I'll give you the same advice a fellow gave me about collecting tobacco pipes many years ago. Go slow until you learn a little bit about what you are doing. It is easy to let the RAD take over and get a bunch of stuff you won't be happy with or be able to get your money out of.

If you go to this part of the razor forum you will get an idea of what razors forum members hold in high regard. In the Wiki at the toolbar above there is a section on razors to avoid. I will let you look around and find that. Lots more good info in there while you looking.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Looks like a good buy. There've been a lot of razors on the UK ebay recently, but most aren't in good condition like that. Mouldy "coffin" box cases took away some of the excitement of opening up the 2 cheapo ones I bought recently. Yours look like new, they've been looked after and stored well I'd say. Might even be shave-ready after some stropping.

Judging by the number of people who bid on them they were worth having. I think they were on my watch list but I never got round to bidding on them myself.
