Default I need to have a cup of coffee before i pick up the razor in the morning....

2 verical cuts on my chin and i managed to get my ear with the rounded end a bit.

Things had been going so well to

I'm wondering if i should break out the DE while these heal, i dont wanna.

btw, is there any thing i can look at visually on the razor to see if I have an bumped the edge without noticing, like when i am rinsing.

FWIW, I find that if I do get a nick or cut, subsequent shaves with a DE tend to irritate it more than with a straight.

Yeah, I have my coffee in the morning before my shower and shave. Unless coffee makes your hands tremble.

Been there, done that and bought the T-shirt. Take your time. If you're not comfortable with certain areas of your face, then don't do them with the straight yet. Sounds like your technique could be improved upon. Heck, after 5 months of straight razor shaving I still use my Merkur twin to touch up...

The decision of what razor you use is ultimately yours. I see nothing wrong with using alternative methods to shave. In the meantime, your cuts may heal faster if you use aloe vera and antibiotic ointments, at least that has been my experience.

    Al raz.

I have found that the process of shaving is what wakes me up and then I go and have my coffee.
when I have nicked and or cut my self I just leave them be and use my straight the next day, I never have had a DE I switched from my crap3 and have not looked back at all

    Al raz.
i have been putting on thayers with hazel with aloe vera(non-alcohol) and then putting antibiotic cream on the cuts.

other than the big cut i got last week(which looks more like a cut from a knife fight!), i have been mostly nic/cut free...until today.

Yes. Hold it under a light and angle it so you can see the bright reflection off the edge. Then inspect for tiny chips. Most any defects of that type that would effect your face will be visible.
