Thanked: 0Razor for heavy Beard
Hey all,
I have been at this for a little bit and things seem to be going good. I just have the one razor a Solingen I believe it is a company owned by Dovo. it seems to work pretty good but I am not sure of the specs I think it's a 5/8 hollow point. I will try to post a pic soon. My real question is does anyone seem to think one type of razor works better for heavier beards? not so much a brand but sizes. for example would a 7/8 work better than a 5/8. also would a heavier blad work better than a lighter one. I am still learning but would a wedge work better than a hollowed blade? of course i know that shaving is a very personal thing and there is no one size fits all answer. thanks for all the help up to this point.

I think that grind is better than size for adding weight so going for a half hollow to a wedge will give the blade some more momentum through the shave. A 7/8 will be slightly heavier than a5/8 of the same grind however. That said, sharp is sharp and that's the most important thing. Try a Wapi.

I have a coarse beard. I highly recomend going with a wedge. It is a night and day difference in shaving with a wedge vs a hollow.

I'll just be brief this time on this subject.
If you prefer a certain size or grind that's one thing but if you think you can only get a good shave from a heavier grind or large size that would be a serious mistake. Like Xman said, sharp is sharp. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero
