    Default brush question

ok guys this is one of many post im sure i will need to make here, so here goes nothing lol. i need a bit of explaining on brush size. i was looking at the golden nib and they had brush head for sale. well my question is when they say lets say 18mm by 64mm. does that mean 18mm at the knot. i need to know this becuase i have access to a lathe and i was thinking about making a nice brush for myself. thanks again guys for any information

I think that the first number is the knot size and the other is the length of the bristle.

The first number is the knot diameter

The knot size is correct. At 64mm I suspect that number is the pile height (length of the hairs). I would expect a brush height to be 100mm or higher.

yes 64 mm is the length of the bristles, once 10-15mm get burried in the handle there will be about 50-55mm sticking out.

You can just wait till you receive it and turn the handle then.

again thanks for the info i have a nice chunk of walnut that i ca nget a nice 1 and 1/2 inch square out of. from what i read i think a can put a 24mm knot into it with out a problem. it should make a nice combo with the scales i want o make from the same piece of wood.

Please post pics when you have completed it. We seem rather obsessed with our razor related porn out here..
