    Default My 6th , 7th, and 8th shave

Well I have been practicing my stropping tecqunique for about a week now on a loaner strop from a forum member and neighbor. (No damage to strop yet) Anyway I shower , make up some lather and I go to work. My newly honed and freshly stropped razor feels better than ever, this time the razor does not drag or pull hairs from my face, instead I feel it actually cutting the hairs off, everything feels good, no nicks, everythings cool. I do my entire face rinse with warm water but I just dont want it to end so I lather up again, this time I try something different, I go accross the grain, the neck was a little trickey but I slow myself down, I dont force anything and I focus on what Im doing. I rinse my face off again and look in the mirror, I look great. But I just dont want it to end, I want to shave all night..... SO I lather up again, This time the razor is just gliding around with ease, so I am now touching up spots with the tip of the razor like a straggling hair hanging off my ear, squaring off sideburns, I reshave my face against the grain, but I know It almost time for me to stop because I could feel my skin saying "No More". I rinse with warm water pat dry with a towel then put cold water on my hands and press my hands against my face and neck. Im not crazy about the cold water part.I have been shaving for 30 years and my face never felt this good, Im not sure if this is a BBS shave but its definitly the closest shave I have gotten with a straight so far. I cant wait to shave again, I think Im gonna shave tommorow morning just for the hell of it.

Congrats Mike. I am getting to the point now where I am getting the best shaves of my life and loving every second of it, so I know exactly where you are coming from. It's great everything is going good for you.

Nice one, Mike - I'm right there with you - I think we're getting there. I also had my 7th or 8th shave last night & got the best results yet from my Dovo Black Star (still having a slight prob getting under the chin, and am still laying off the 3rd pass for now to spare my skin).

I had touched it up with a barber's hone first, and that did seem to improve its store-bought "shave ready" state over just stropping.

My back-up razors are on their way back now from Max (thanks, Max!), can't wait to compare the shave-readiness of a razor prepared by a master. Martin

Martin, under the chin is a little trickey for me also , but I find it eaier if I look up toward the ceiling, This is kind of hard to explain but I kind of stretch my chin up with just the face muscles, while resting my razor hand on top of my other hand that rests on my chest. I find it hard to have my razor hand just float in mid air while shaving under my chin. I think in time I will get better with this.
