Thanked: 0Dovo All Satin Stainless Steel Scratch problem
Just received it today and noticed that when i put the blade in the scale it seems to mark the top of the blade when i take it out. How far do you put the blade into the scale? Does this always happen to every razor or is it just mine since both are made of steel including the scales!

Do you mean the blade is not centered in the scales and it touches them as you close the razor? If that is the case, I do not think that a new blade is supposed to do that. The razor should close without touching the scales. Only a couple of my Ebay specials (cheap old razors from Ebay) do that. They seem to have also a lose pin but I am sure there is not a fixed rule here. I do not have any razors with metal scales so I close them all the way without problems. If this is what is happening, perhaps you should contact the seller about this. In any case, it is nice to hear that you got your blade. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanked: 335I'm guessing that the scales are stamped out of flat stock and that there may be a bit of a burr on the inside edge of the scale(s) which may be marring the surface of the blade. A machinist's scraper or some fine emery cloth could be used to remove a burr or relieve a sharp edge at that corner and that may solve the problem.
good luck,

A picture is worth a thousand words .
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I think what is happening here is that the blade clones
without the edge touching the scales, but where the
blade rests on the scales (up near the shoulder) there
is some sort of marking taking place.
What is the scale material? Does the marking seem to
come off with your fingernail?

The scales are stainless too Scott, but i think you've probably got it on where the marking's occuring & Bruce's suggestion shopuld help. Stainless scales will probably always mark the stainless blade though. Mine only touches at the tip though & does nothing that you'd really notice, unless you had a brand new razor that you'd only just got & was your current pride & joy!

Thanked: 0sebell- that is exactly what I'm talking about and it marks at the top near the shoulder when i take it out of the scale. does that mean i'm putting it in too hard/deep/tight? i am worried that over time the markings won't go away and could become permanent and cause problems?
