    Default Bismarck, but which one?

My dilemma is which one to choose:

DOVO Bismarck 6/8 round point with celluloid scales

    or

DOVO Bismarck 5/8 square point with bone scales?

I have never had a square razor before and I am not afraid to try one, now that I have quite some experience in straight shaving. My concerns regard:

    A) Scale material (bone is better than celluloid)
    B) Aesthetics (6/8 is better looking than 5/8)
    C) Point shape (square point offer more precision than round or am I wrong on this? Also, is precision an issue when you are not into shaping moustache/beard?)
    D) Better performance, when it comes to really hard whiskers. Are both of the same quality?

I would be glad to listen to your opinions.

are they the same grind? (c) square vs round? a can get tigjht areas just as well with my round as i can with my spike. (b) i like the 6/8 over the 5 because it is heavier and more comfortable to shave with.(d) as far as performance goes i have a full and a half grind they both shave great but i like the weight of the half (a) the scales are for looks its up to you which one you like beter

these of course are my personal opinions

Hi, thanks for the answer. Yes, both are full hollow blades. As far as it concerns the scales, I read somewhere that bone had better endurace through time compared to celluloid which tends to get affected more easily by temperature.

I have both of those razors, they are both great shavers. I had the 5/8 Spike point in bone first and that will be the one I always favor, but the 6/8 Celluoid is great as well. The fact that you want to try a spike/square point is good they can be much more accurate to hit just one pin point area. Just take your time with them. As far as the scale material I have not seen anything wrong with either of them yet. Since they are IMHO both great shavers it is tough to choose, but as said before I always favor the 5/8 Bone spike point.

I'm not of much help unfortunately as I really like both as well. If forced to pick right now I think I lean slightly towards the bonehandle, 5/8.
And don't worry the steel is quite a bit harder than your facial hair, so as long as it's sharp it will cut it.

Lynn honed up a bunch of the 5/8" bone handled Bismarks a
while ago and thought that they took a great edge. I think they
    look pretty good as well!

The Bismark Bone Handle Spike Point was my first new razor from SRD. I wear a goatee and it is great for defining the outline. Even if I did not have the beard, I still would love the razor. Shaves like a dream and has real sex appeal.
