    Default Shaving Ones' Noggin' .

Do many of ya'll have any experience shaving your head with a straight razor? I've been shaving with a straight for about 3 months now with considerable success, but have not yet gathered up the testicular diameter to attempt shaving my head with it. Anything I need to take in mind before I go about it? Should the procedure for shaving my head be just the same as shaving my face?

    Thank you Gentlemen,

    ST

It's pretty much the same process and there's a wealth of info on the web including videos. If you Google "head shaving" it will point you in the right direction...such as here.

Personally I probably wouldn't attempt it until my technique was so good I could shave that "testicular diameter" blindfolded.

Jimbo is the resident expert, search the forums and you'll find a lot of info about it and I think he even posted a video or two. I do it occasionally but for me it's too time-consuming. You want to use very good form and be careful around the ears and in the back (voice of experience here ) Do the easy spots with a straight and the rest with a DE a few times first to get used to putting a blade to your head. Go for it - it's a good feeling!

I'm a cue ball, too. I used to use a Mach 3 or a Fusion on the bean, but it's actually much easier to use a straight. I let my hair grow out between shaves to the point that it instantly clogs any multi-blade cartridge. You won't have that problem with a straight. Just take your time. It's definitely something you don't want to rush.

Also, I lay the blade flat on my head like I"m using my bean as a honing stone. Spine and edge both on bean, no pressure, slow blade movement. Then "hone" your blade on your head. Don't use an X stroke, though.

I do one pass WTG and one XTG.
